St Giles Kirk at Night

Our hotel was truly situated in an ideal location. We were just a few steps away from the this great church as well as the best stuff on the Mile. Right around where the loving couple is standing is a concrete slab with a big engraved heart. This marks the spot where the gallows once stood outside Tolbooth Prison. It's a local tradition to walk around it and spit on the heart. Of course I had to do it.

Flying over to Scotland was a breeze. Actually there was a definite lack of a breeze as the Gulf Stream seemed to have disappeared. El NiƱo was wreaking havoc with weather patterns both in the States and throughout Europe.
