Crank

This was how they kept the light turning. Someone would turn this crank for a while, and it would bring a weight from the bottom of the lighthouse to the top. The weight would then slowly drop, turning the light. It would last a couple of house before needing more winding.

Oct. 14th: We got up bright and early to take the bus from Pemberton to the little coastal town of Augusta.
