The last flat land, at nearly 4000 feet. From here we made the ascent into the North Rim woods, an elevation of 9,000 (more than 1,000 feet higher ... and 10 degrees cooler ... than the more popular South Rim).

Generalissimo and Jenny Karankawa have teamed up to take on the Pacific Northwest (and Utah and the Grand Canyon). The pair first met back in 1997 under the banner of St. Thomas, when Generalissimo was a fierce fencer and Karankawa an aspiring actress (of all things).
Karankawa's namesake comes from the Texas Gulf Coast tribe that was wiped out in the 1800's, primarily by the French pirate Lafitte. Little is known about the tribe, except that the men were spectacularily handsome at nearly seven feet tall while the women were only a mere five feet and often referred to as short and squat... full info
