Previoulsy a palace which Catherine the Great gave to her son Paul. Paul was later murdered by his son Alexander.

After another lovely long train journey we arrived in St. Petersburg, the capital of Russia for around 200 years previous to the 1st World war when it was moved so it would be less easy to capture.
