The Grosses Fass (Great Cask) at Heidleberg Schloss is an enormous wine barrel in the cellar made from 130 oak trees and can hold 58,500 gallons. Long ago, it was used to hold wines paid as taxes by local wine growers.
Christmastime in Deutschland December 3rd 2004 After a two week trip to Egypt with friends, I spent a week in Germany doing a little solo travel. This was my first trip to Deutschland and Christmastime seemed to be the perfect time...though a bit chilly. I look forward to returning one day...preferably when it is a bit warmer. As long as I can remember I've loved to travel & learn about new people, places and customs.
I have my 9th grade Geography teacher to thank for really sparking my interest in travel & the world around me. We had 2 great projects that year...1) create a country and 2) our great aunt Gussie passed away & left us $5K with the stipulation all the money be spent on travel ($5K went a long way on travel back in the early 80's).
