Ngoc is 6 years old and was born with cerebral palsy. In Vietnam, children born with disabilities are often left at the orphanage. A disabled child means one less working parent, which means less money, and less food. Ngoc’s family took the more difficult option, and do their best to take care of Ngoc themselves. I began traveling in my early twenties and found that it offered a mind opening perspective of life in relation to the lives of others around the world. Since then, I have explored close to 30 different countries throughout Europe and Central America, being immersed in their cultures and customs, many of which lack the freedom of artistic creation and expression. The realization to have had so many opportunities in life, like that of an art education, continues to be the driving force behind my motivation.
