August is, on average, Peru's coldest month of the year, and we arrived to a very chilly, grey and damp Lima. It remained that way during the three days we were there, with not even a glimpse of sunshine; very similar to August back home we hear. As we closed the door to the ambulance station, our shift came to a somewhat anticlimactic end. No big send off, no tearful farewells, in fact, no bugger all. But that was how we’d wanted it, choosing not to have a leaving party because, lets face it, we weren’t really leaving. However, this would be the last time we would see our place of work for a whole year.
