Today was water town day, basically a chinese Venice, I tried to find it in Lonely Planet but there is no reference to it, it was called Zhouzhuang. It was absolutely jammed with Chinese tourists and tourist tat but once you looked past that it was quite pretty. I ended up buying some scrolls with pictures of plants (bamboo etc) on them for 150 yuan, probably to expensive but not to bad and it was ... read more

Comment on Messing about on the river
Well after boring everyone about it for so long I am finally into the final countdown to the start of my travels. I aim to get via from London to Sydney without flying, this will involve travel through the following countries, UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Belorus, Russia, Mongolia, China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and then finally Oz by my May 26 2008 deadline.... full info
