Jumped on an early tram by the skin of our teeth and made our way through the city to the the airport via the Skybus. No dramas checking in, although we both got randomly tested for traces of explosives! Must look dodgy.. Our hostel in Cairns was called Gilligans, and was a huge place calling itself a Backpackers resort hotel, and had a lovely pool and out door bar, a huge indoor bar/club area w ... read more

Comment on Magnetic Island
After years of commuting by rail and road, we both decided enough was enough and to take the plunge and plan a Round the World trip. Six months was the limit we set, but who knows if we'll stick to it??
This trip has been in the pipeline for at least 18 months, and once the money was saved, the jabs done (ouch!), it was all systems go. As of 18th Sep 05, Lin and Jeremy have left the country!!... full info
