The mound contains a mass burial of soldiers and the individual plots generally contain 2 to 5 soldiers. This is because in some cases it was hard to seperate the bodies and also the germans had a live together, fight together, die together belief. The French gave this land to Germany so they could burry their dead. There was more respect here on all sides than you think. Of course likewise, there is more disrespect for humanity than you can imagine.
