Slow boating the Mekong River is another popular activity in Laos. I was doing it backwards, going upriver from Luang Prabang to Huay Xai in the Golden Triangle. For me, travel is a learning experience. I am less interested in other travellers and prefer to meet the locals. No surprise, I usually travel alone.
