Boating down the Niger River Photo 15

At Mopti we said goodbye to the truck for 3 days and boarded our pirogue which would take us up the Niger towards Timbuktu. If all goes well, the truck should be there to meet us on the other side. Lonely Planet suggests 4-5 days for this trip and we planned to do it in 3 which means long days crowded on a boat barely big enough to fit all 26 people. AfricaBound

Hi! Welcome to our travelblog page. We initally called ourselves "AfricaBound" because we spent a year traveling around Africa from August 2007 to August 2008. At that time, little did we even think that we could go on another extended trip. Somehow through much perseverance and determination we were able to save up for yet another extended trip, this time as sort of a honeymoon.
