Other than touring the sites, we also tried to practice our bad Japanese on the kind people that would help us, the temple cleaners, the attendants and the poor cab drivers. They had a lot of patience with us for being so clumsy! Iwent on a short trip to China and Japan for six weeks. last time I was in Harbin in 2004 which was in the far north. This time I am hitting Beijing, Xi an, Hong Kong and Macau. Japan will be very meaningful as I was there in April of 1992...wow. Dave will be meeting me there and we´ll hit Tokyo, Kamakura, Kyoto, Osaka and Gifu City where we are staying with friends. Second trip that I blogged was to Princeton NJ and Ottawa, for conferences. Different than the first but still a lot of fun.... full info
