Here's how the hat looks on a local. The clothing is one of the unique characteristics of the tribal villagers, but with commercially made clothes so cheap, most of them opt for ready-to-wear when tourists aren't around.

On the way to Phayao, we stopped to watch some rice workers in the field. I tried my hand at cutting the rice, much to the amusement of the workers. I guess I'd better stick with my day job.
