Jan Hus Monument

I was disappointed to see that this monument is currently being renovated (and covered by a car ad no less!). Jan Hus was burned at the stake in the 15th century for challenging the Roman Catholic hierarchy. His supporters, known as Hussites, were responsible for the religious wars that tore Bohemia apart in the 15th and 17th centuries.
