Burgerlijke Griffie - Civil Registry Office. A Renaissance edifice built in 1536-1537. Restored in 1881-1884. "Adjoining the Hôtel de Ville on the left is the Maison de L'Ancin Greffe Flamand, or old municipal record office, a Renaissance edifice built in 1535-37, restored in 1881-84, and profusely adorned with gilding and statues; it is now a court of law (Justice de Paix)."--Baedeker 1910. Our visit to Bruges was a day trip out from Brussels. The Globus tour bus let us off at the Bargeplein coach park. Unlike similar facilities to enable the touring of city centers, this one is in a very attractive park-like setting and within walking distance of the historic center.
