We love bridges so the early morning began with a walk to the Royal Border Bridge that spans the River Tweed between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Tweedmouth in Northumberland. It is a railway viaduct built between 1847 and 1850 and is still in use today. The bridge is 659m long and constructed in stone except for brick soffits to the 28 arches, each spanning 18m.
