After our bumpy taxi ride I had lunch with Charlotte and Nic before attempting to drive to Karamea, which sits at the upper most point on the west coast road. This proved a little too much in one day after a serious lack of sleep so I spent the night in the beautiful Buller Gorge being eaten alive by sand flies.
