Auschwitz I Block 14
Auschwitz I concentration camp. Block 14. Intended to contain 700 prisoners per block, each cellblock eventually held 1,200. Auschwitz I was established in 1940, initially as a concentration camp for Polish political prisoners. The site had been a Polish military barracks before the war.
