Day 1
An early morning start of 4am to catch the red eye to Sydney saw us tired, however landing in Sydney the excitement increased.
Kym and I were appropriately dressed for a cruise. I donned a navy and white nautical inspired outfit right down to my shoes and nails and Kym wore his Captain Hellfire tshirt and 3 quorn pirate hat, which had comments all day about him being Captain Jack Sparrow and his got excited seeing a real pirate.
An uber shared between the four of us and we were at Circular Quay. Dropping off our suitcases at the terminal we had a few hours to kill before boarding and walked to the Opera House and bought our first celebratory drinks overlooking our cruise ship and the Sydney Harbor Bridge. The warm sun felt nice and left us all in a feeling of relaxed bliss about to leave our present reality and have 8 nights of fun and relaxation.
Kym and I boarded, the process easy although over the queue after queue to get on board. We had bought soft drinks after arriving in Sydney and after the waiting they felt heavy. You are allowed
12, 600ml drinks per person.
Getting to our room, our luggage was waiting and so were another family. Their keys worked, ours did not, so we made our way to guest services to sort it out. We had apparently been upgraded, a bigger room with a balcony. (Thanks Dad!!)
It was already past lunch time so we made our way to the buffett. I seriously hate buffets... You want to try a bit of everything and it never sits well. So of course that is exactly what I did...The food was tasty though and feeling more than full we rolled ourselves out of the Lido dining buffet and checked out a few places on board.
Carnival have an app that you could download and shows you times and locations of activities and shows, dining and other information. For $9 you can chat to other people on board. Kym and Nicki downloaded it so we could meet up for ship activities. Nicki akso had a social media package and for once we decided not to bother. A trip without Facebook for the most part sounded good.
I was keen for the outdoor movie and made my way
to the sundeck to grab a cocktail, popcorn and a blanket and with the cool breeze and fresh air enjoyed my movie. Kym, Curt and Nicki enjoyed discovering the different bars...
We were going to meet for pizza (its 24/7) but I changed my mind and dined alone in the Empire Silver Service restaurant. 3 waiters to myself supplied me a delicious dinner of salmon entree and swordfish main followed by dessert.
Having told Kym to leave me a note telling me where he was I went back to our room, no note... so I went to bed not wanting to search the ship. The three of them crashed through the door an hour later, ticking on quite nicely. Kym had apparently forgotten what room we were in and couldn't form the correct words to ask.. hahaha... and couldn't find me... so consequently we all downloaded the chat app, also Nicki left her phone in our room and we couldn't contact her to let her know...
