Edit Blog Post
Needlework Group
Janet with her Needlework Friends (can you find her?) Sorry but there were internet satellite connection problems and we could not send the blog last night. We have enjoyed getting a couple of positive comments from our "readers". Today David got up early and went up to the Fitness Center for a little walk on the Treadmill and some time on the Elliptical. It was shorter than yesterday, but he should be able to work out a better schedule for future days. Also we need to correct a misstatement from yesterday. There is indeed a Walk/Run track on deck-18, but it only circles around the aft half of the ship instead of the whole ship (takes 7 laps to make a mile). We went down to the morning breakfast in the restaurant again. This time Janet ordered the Steak & Eggs breakfast instead of Eggs Benedict. David had the same Ham & Cheese Omelet as yesterday – not very creative. We met a few more people at breakfast and one couple actually is booked on the same cruise we have reserved in 2017. They are very experienced cruisers and will actually be on their 100th cruise when we see them Pool Deck
On the deck during the afternoon (Jurasic Park on the Movie Screen) again next year (that is just EXTREME).
After breakfast Janet went on to her Knitter’s Meeting. There were about 25 people in her meeting, including a couple of quilters and someone doing bead-work. So it’s quite a diverse group. Meanwhile David went to the Advanced Photography session. This was more detailed than yesterday, so maybe his picture quality will improve a little. David went to the lecture session on what to expect in Cadiz/Seville. We already have excursions selected in all the ports, so this was just sort of some interesting background information. While that was going on, Janet started watching a movie in the cabin which Patterson had recommended. Actually it is a cartoon about emotions and behavior, but reflects a pretty ingenious approach to explaining feelings. The movie is called “Inside Out”. Having now seen it we wonder if Patterson really understood all the concepts and complexities, but we can see where he would have enjoyed the animation. What other movies will he recommend for Grandma to watch? At noon we had a very unusual experience. Instead of having the clocks being adjusted Bermuda Rescue Boat
Rescue Boat approaching from Bermuda during the night (and losing an hour of sleep), this cruise they are moving the clocks forward during the day when everyone should already be awake to make the change. So instantly the clock moved from 11:59 AM to 1:00 PM, so we were that much closer to having the next meal. Now we are on Bermuda Time (whatever the official name is).
With the time change, we technically had a late lunch today although we didn’t seem to be extra hungry. We went up to deck-16 for a couple of slices at Prego Pizzeria. We had Pepperoni and Prosciutto pizza slices. It was just the right amount. Then we went down to the International Café and got a couple of slices of cheesecake for dessert. The weather today was kind of overcast with occasional showers this morning. In the afternoon the skies cleared and it was nice and sunny although only in the mid-70’s. The pool area was still fairly crowded this afternoon. Well that changed about 4:00 when we approached Bermuda and they sent a boat out from the shore to meet our ship. The crew transferred the Seawalk
Seawalk extending beyond the ship ill passenger who had the medical issue (we don’t know what it was) along with a medic and took him to shore. People left the pools and other areas to line up along the deck rails to watch. It took about an hour to transfer them to shore and then to return our medical person back to the ship, so about 5:00 we headed off toward Madeira and the Captain announced that we should still be able to arrive on time in a few days. Unfortunately our scenic view of Bermuda was from about a mile away and was directly into the sun, so the pictures aren’t real good (David’s photo class said to move around so your camera was not aiming toward the sun, but the Captain didn’t move the ship to accommodate him). During that time Janet went to the “fancy coffee stand” and got a Carmel Salted Coffee (which she liked).
Up on Deck-16 there is a walkway which extends out beyond the side of the ship so people can walk above the ocean and look down through glass windows at the sea rushing by below us. Janet is not interested in Seawalk View Down
See a lifeboat and the ocean through the floor? trying this feature, but David has used it and it gives an interesting perspective. She says, “what if it falls?” If you are familiar with the Science Center walkway across US 40 in St Louis, this is much more entertaing. David did get a couple of picture of this “Seawalk”.
This evening was the first Formal Dress dinner and everyone was all dressed up in the finery. Again our table companions failed to attend so we kind of inserted ourselves into the conversation at the next table and they seemed willing to adopt us. They are Jim & Bonnie from Florida, and Jerry & Joyce from Minnesota. For an appetizer, David had Waldorf Salad but Janet didn’t have anything. We both had bowls of French Onion Soup. Then for our entrees, Janet had Pasta with Veal, and David had Barramundi white fish, and we each had a glass of white wine. For dessert we each had Bananas Foster. Janet had a cup of Decaf coffee with a shot of Irish Cream while David had a glass of Port Wine. We finished dinner early enough to get to the early show String Quartet
Quartet playing during the afternoon in the Princess Theater. It was a song and dance show from the shipboard performers, featuring a variety of soul songs. Then we had a little time to rest before we went to the Vista Lounge at the other end of the ship to hear a classical concert from a Ukrainian lady’s string quartet. The two shows were dramatically different but were both very enjoyable. We had heard the quartet in the main Piazza earlier in the day and David had gotten a picture looking down at them
Now we are back in the cabin and settling down for the night. Good Night!

Cadiz and Seville
I didn't know you were going the Cadiz and Seville. We were there last spring. Loved them both. We spent quite awhile in Seville, stayed at a really nice hotel called the Alfonso 13th. If you have a chance to have lunch in Seville I highly recommend the outdoor place on the side of the Alfonso...not the indoor one. That hotel is right next to the Alcasar and a lovely p a rk where you can take a carriage ride. Most excursions should go to that area. Have fun!
