I really love to cruise. My favorite part about crusing is the food. I have recently learned about history of cruising as well as some aspects of cruise agents. Not only that, I have been a Cruise Caregiver for 1.5 yrs now and I have discovered how working on cruise and playing is awesome. I mean I got to help some clients on cruises. I got paid to do it as well as traveling to exotic places and getting free rooms, etc. I really loved my career and very soon I'm going back to school to get my BSN-Rn Nursing Degree in January 2019. The aspects I love about cruising are: Food, Entertainment, Shows, Casinos,as well Cruise Excursions, Banquets,Room, etc! I really love to cruise! I love booking cruises as well as I enjoy seeing journeys through boat. ... read more

The Good Stuff Sunrise - Unless I were a poet (or even an exceptional writer), I could probably describe my feelings when watching the sunrise from the Atlantic Ocean each morning, my pictures will have to show the incredible colors, grandeur and sheer beauty of the mornings at sea. My father used to lovingly chide me for my love of sunsets. He would say, "What really counts is seeing the new day in the light of sunrise" and I finally get it. Most of the time I spent watching the sunrise solo, from the back fantail on Deck 11. People couldn't access this popular spot easily until after the dining room opened at 0730 (7:30am). I simply walked to the top deck (12) then slipped down a stairway onto 11, and was by myself until early ... read more

Today we technically start on our way home. Only just having been reunited with our suitcases!! I started the day by wearing a clean t-shirt…because I could!! We breakfasted at 06:45. I said to Roisin that we needed to turn up early in order to get a seat. Roisin seems to think I only wanted to take this early opportunity to show other guests that I actually own more than one t-shirt!! By 07:15 the breakfast room was once again standing room only. We paid our $6 each and at mid-day took the shuttle to the ship. There were three other ships in port, the Eurodam a Holland-America cruise ship and the rather oversized Royal Caribbean ships, the Harmony of the Seas and the Independence of the Seas. There were guests staying at our hotel that ... read more

Woke to a lovely sunrise and headed up to the VIP deck to drop our bags before going for breakfast. Spent the day sunbathing and gazing at the sea with the only disturbance being a loud bunch of guys discussing the previous night’s Halloween costumes! Lunch at the buffet seemed busier than usual and the veggie options were limited so healthy salad for me which was counteracted by the pina colada I ordered when I got back to the deck. Lazed around some more until my conscience got the better of me and had to go and run the jogging track. Did about 3.5k on there while Alex shot some hoops and did some weights in the gym. Tonight was the ‘Norwegian Night out’ a dress up or not, night. Slipped (or should that be squeezed) ... read more

Hello. Even if the itinerary had not been changed yesterday, this was still going to be our last Sea Day on this cruise before a series of Port Days. So the change did not alter today’s agenda, except for where the ship is headed. We are going further north and will reach Portugal (instead of Spain) late tonight. Something we did not mention yesterday about Madeira is how rough the terrain is. The hills are pretty steep and it is heavy volcanic basalt rock. In order to create any flat spots along the hillsides, they have hauled rocks up the hillsides to create terraced areas that are flat enough to try to grow some gardens. All this was done many years ago when the labor was done by hand and carrying blocks on their shoulders. However ... read more

First, let us thank an English teacher who is reading the BLOG. Our previous reference to a Child Fruit Salad should have actually been Chilled Fruit Salad. We will have to make our proof-reader work a little harder in the future. :-) We will blame it on auto-correct (erroneously). Hello from the somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. We had a longer day today (24 hours) than we’ve been having lately. Yesterday when we described ourselves as being in the London time zone, we should also have said we were in time zone for Madeira (where we will be tomorrow). So there was no need to change the clocks today. FYI … David did go to the theater last night and enjoyed the show. Not only was the performer a good singer, but he also did some ... read more

Hello Bloggers. We are having a good time and are enjoying these restful days, but before long the excursions will being and we will have different things to report to you. As for today, we changed a few things. One thing is that it rained most of the day, so there weren’t any outdoor activities. Instead of our usual dining room breakfast, we had some breakfast sandwiches and donuts from the International Café. This was also partly because we were doing the laundry today and needed to eat while the clothes were in the machines but before they finished washing. Anyway, we are all equipped with clean clothes for the next week. Janet went to her knitting group with her friends. Rather than going to the Fitness Center and gaining weight (see yesterday’s experiment), David stayed ... read more

Today was another restful 23-hour day. We are currently in “Coordinated Universal Time Zone-02”. Apparently there is no significant city (or land mass) to assign as a reference point. So we are quite literally out in the middle of nowhere. The wind picked up today with gusts of 35-40 knots, sea swells of about 4 to 5 meters, overcast and cool. There was no one in the pools this afternoon and very few people on the outside decks. In general it was a good day to stay inside and enjoy the gentle rocking of the ship until we dozed off for a nice nap. We have settled into a comfortable routine of getting up and going to breakfast in the dining room. Then Janet goes to her knitting group while David goes to the Fitness Center. ... read more

Hello. This is our 3rd Sea Day and frankly we had a pretty laid-back plan for the day. We got up and dressed and went down to breakfast. Janet then went to the knitters group where she had another nice visit with her crafty friends. This was supposed to actually be a double-header day for needle crafters with a quilting session to be held after the knitting session. But Janet was having so much fun with her fellow knitters that she just skipped the quilts (we don’t have room in the suitcase for one anyway). David went back to the cabin to read some of his book on our balcony before going up to the Fitness Center for a good 90-minute workout. Actually climbing up the 7 decks of stairs almost wore him out without ever ... read more

Today is our first of seven “day at sea” on the itinerary. We did some exploring of the ship yesterday, but during the day today we had more time to walk around and see more of the ship. In case you want to follow along with where we are on the Royal Princess, here is a link to the deck plan: http://www.princess.com/deckPlans.do?shipCode=RP This morning we went to the Concerto Dinning Room for breakfast. It is a little more traditional with murals painted on the walls and lot of tapestries and curtains. Our dinner dining room (Allegro) is more modern with straight-line architecture and largely a black and white color scheme. Anyway. Janet got to have her first serving of Eggs Benedict (this is a favorite which she considers to be one of the best breakfasts served ... read more
