The Ship
Navigator of the Seas Another 25 hour day today, and we have settled comfortably into a leisure pace that might best be described as “a lazy day”. In actuality, each of the days until Saturday will be 25 hours long. We get up late, eat when/what we want, lay around the pool or rest comfortably on the balcony, and generally relax until the evening activities. It has become easy to be spoiled into not doing anything special and just letting the day take care of itself.
Janet and David went to the pool in late morning. The salt water pool is more buoyant than chlorine pools, so it was more difficult for Janet to do her exercise in the pool (kept floating off the bottom of the pool). Then we spent awhile in the hot tub. Somehow it is oriented so your view over the edge of the hot tub appears to go straight to the ocean, like you are floating in the whole ocean. Then we had the pool-side buffet and finished by lounging in deck chairs reading a book. After all that exertion, it was time for a nap.
Kathy had a restful day on her balcony and reading in her

on Halloween cabin, while Jim overachieved and did 4 miles on the walking track. Then they had an afternoon nap too.
Today our whole tour group (15 people) got together in the Cosmopolitan Lounge (very highest lounge overlooking the bow of the ship). We have run into each other occasionally but have missed connections with others. This was a good chance to catch up, in a social setting, on what everyone has been doing. Except the band felt necessary to entertain us too, which made it harder to talk.
Dinner this evening was Pasta Alfredo, Pork Medallions, and Spinach Quiche. This followed Caesar Salad and Gazpacho Soup. For dessert we had Chocolate Cake, Carmel Flan, and Pineapple Sherbet. It was Jim’s turn not to be able to decide about dessert and had two instead. The last couple of nights we have foregone the customary wine bottle
Then it was off to the evening show. As disappointing as the previous night had been, this evening was that much better. The performer was an Irishman who played the fiddle, the harmonica, the guitar, the piano, and sang and cracked jokes. It was very entertaining.
Of course there are a couple

in the Cosmopolitan Lounge of shortcomings on this ship. Our first frustration was that nobody provides any user support for guest using the internet connections. Over time we eventually figured out how to get things done (assuming the satellite connection stays up), but it was an unfortunate start to the trip. The other shortcoming is certainly the elevators. They have a really weird logic concerning which one should respond to a call. They are not equipped to handle the load when lots of people want to go at the same time, but even under non-stressed situations, they can be weird. Oh well, we can’t let these little inconveniences spoil the cruise. By and large the trip has been incredible!
Yesterday’s “movie insert” did not work, so today we will include some pictures from around the ship. When we first boarded the ship we were so busy with the shore activities, only these last couple of days have we been able to really appreciate all the opportunities on the ship. But everything is so large it is not easy to capture it in a photograph. The best way may be for everyone to come and see it for themselves.
FYI … The latest
Jim
on the Treadmill update about the collection for Make-a-Wish has reached $16,000, which already exceeds their goal.
