Day 24

Torrential rain disappeared quickly as we prepared to hand back the campervan. So in sun again we cleaned out the van and packed up then returned to town to walk one last time round the Gardens. In mid afternoon we dropped off the van at the airport and awaited the arrival of Alex who duly appeared at about 6pm. Off in his 16 year old Peugeot to Manipouri via Kingston, only for a coffee stop. We arrived at our rented cottage near the dock from where the boat to Doubtful Sound would go. The cottage was actually a very spacious and well provided bungalow. It was almost brand new and only opened a couple of months ago. The owner kindly drove us to the place after we had stopped at her house first to ask directions. How nice to sleep in a really comfortable bed that did not first have to be assembled!
