Ahhhh, a real bed! How lovely is this?
Wanaka 28th - 31st March

We love Wanaka! My dad said 'You must go to Wanaka', and he was right. It's so beautiful - much more peaceful and laid back that Queenstown. We had treated ourselves by booking a room as it would be our first wedding anniversary. The 'room' turned out to be a fantastic big studio with ensuite (massive) shower, huge bed, kitchenette, tv/dvd, sofa, dining table/chairs, a patio and a decking/garden area - we were gob-smacked (it had been the cheapest room we could find!) We had a fantastic anniversary - walking round part of the lake on a beautiful sunny day, then relaxing in the garden at the studio. We cracked open the white wine we had bought after 'wine tasting' in Gisborne. In the evening we decided not to go out - the studio was too lovely - so I cooked a simple meal and we opened the bottle of red wine (from Napier).

The next day (rather later than we had planned!) we went mountain biking around the lake and along the river. It was hot andsunny again and the track was stunning.

I could have stayed in Wanaka forever - I think I could live there, it's so lovely, and there's so much outdoor stuff to do - who knows!!!?
