jet boating up the dart river
horse back riding- molly style The first day in Queenstown we woke up early and took the gondola ride up to see the views of the city and the lake. All three of us went on the luge and then my mom and I parapaunted (that’s what they call parachuting) off the top of the mountain. It was sooo cool! The guy that took me was named Guy and he pretty much just strapped me in and then we ran down the side of the mountain and before I knew it we were in the air. It just felt like we were floating and we just kept catching air currents and swooped around in that area for a while. Then as we were further down he took pictures of me with a camera on a stick and then asked if I wanted to make things more exciting and he did some sharper turns which kind of made me nauseous. Then we kind of just plopped down in this athletic field in town. I thought that the landing would be a lot harder and I would have to run or something but it was so soft and easy.
Then that afternoon we drove to Glenorchy
and did the Dart River Safari. We put on black rain coats and hopped on a bus that took us to the boat dock where we got on a jet boat which is a boat that is jet propelled so it can go through really shallow water. We drove up the Dart River and at times the water was no more than maybe a couple feet. The boat went pretty fast and there were a couple of times that he spun the whole boat in a 360 and we all got wet. After the jet boating we took a little nature walk and then took a bus back down to Glenorchy.
The second day my mom wanted to look at the bungy jumpers off the Kuarawa bridge jump and maybe do it. All along the way I told her that she was doing it and when we got there my dad and I pretty much told her that she was going to do it and she did!!!! The jump was 46m which is about 130 feet. The location was sooo pretty and the color of the river under the bridge was such a beautiful blue. I asked them to
dunk me in the water but I didn’t make it low enough to even touch.
After we drove into Arrowtown, which is cute little touristy town with a little strip of shops. We drove to the golf course, Millbrook, where my dad ended up playing the next morning so that he could join us for a horseback riding adventure that afternoon. We took a steamship across the lake to this little house where they do dinners and farm tours. We each got our own horse and went on a tail ride up into the mountains and along farm land overlooking the lake.
During our last day in Queenstown my mom and I went mountain biking while my dad played golf. They took us up to the top of a mountain in Skippers Valley and we road down a windy dangerous dirt road. The company we chose was called “Gravity Action” so it was nice because there were no up hills. Then we decided to go on the hard track, which was a very skinny trail with very steep parts and big rocks and small streams that we had to cross. I was terrible and got a little banged
up since I fell off my bike a bunch of times. I think I improved by the end, but I was just glad to make it there without hurting anything because the next day we started the Milford track. But that afternoon when my mom and I were walking around town I ran into Emily Senko and we decided to meet up for drinks that night. We met up and Winnies and then went over to Altitude and ran into Jeff Wolf. Then we went to World Bar and I ran into Mike Barrett, Lauren Duchene and two other boys from Bucknell that I didn’t even know, and all of them are studying in Aussie and were down in NZ for the break. Then I saw Pete, who was with Megan and her friends and then I met Lauren, who is Anne’s best friend from home. It was such a fun night running into all these people, I couldn’t believe it, such a small world. Great night and then in the morning we left for Milford (continued in "break part 3")
