The Edwin Fox
The 9th oldest ship in the world - Built in 1853 Whilst heading to Picton we discovered our super duper battery charger had stopped working.
Took it apart to discover a wire had come adrift.
What to do?
NO MORE PHOTOS!!! We'd bought the charger in Singapore and it could not be replaced here!!! However the day was saved when we managed to find an auto electrician in Blenheim,
who kindly welded the wire back together for us.
Arrived in Picton and found that the ferry tickets were cheaper if we waited till the monday
(This gave us an extra 2 days on the south island) Headed for the Edwin Fox museum, didn't cost a lot.
And as it's steeped in history it's well worth a visit.
We then decided to head towards Nelson,
but we got as far as Pelorus River only to discover the dreaded
SANDFLIES again.
Horror stricken we fled across country back to Blenhiem.
Next day, we decided to camp at a site in Wantamango Bay ready for our ferry crossing.
But the following day, when we tried to set off -
We had trouble. The car battery was as flat A troop ship in Crimean war,
it transported convicts to Australia and immigrants to NZ. as a pancake
Luckily people in New Zealand are very approachable and are willing to help out.
And it didn't take long to find someone to give us a jump start, so that we could be on our way.
(For the second time the New Zealanders saved the day - What wonderful people.)
