Lake Tekapo is simply stunning. This glacier-fed lake is set in Mackenzie country, a region of rolling, dry grasslands. The view as we turned the corner and caught our first glimpse of the snow capped Southern Alps reflected in the water was breathtaking. The Church of the Good Shepherd, built in 1935, is a simple stone interdenominational church with a cross silhouetted against the snow clad peaks. Inside, the magical views of serene lake and towering mountains are framed beautifully by the picture window in front of the altar. The perfect setting for the perfect day!
