Just a quick entry to let you know we're in one piece!
The best word to sum up the journey is long, bloody long! It was 22 hours of flying but we had 2 two hour stops, at Singapore and Sydney, which made it seem like a lot longer. I managed to sleep for a good five hours or so, and only woke myself up by snoring about twice! Apart from that it all went smoothly - no plane crashes, robberies or lost luggage or anything. Oh and Singapore airport had an outside cactus garden in one of the terminals which we were majorly impressed with, but after so long on the plane this wasn't hard to do. Another thing you can't fail to miss at Singapore is the humidity - felt like a steam room outside and that was at 6pm! Looking forward to seeing more of it when we end up there in five months time.
We're now just chilling out in Christchurch and getting over the jetlag for a couple days before we start our adventure tour on Saturday, both really looking forward to it yet I'm slightly dubious it may actually kill me as I'm so unfit, but will hopefully do wonders for the figure.
Staying at the YMCA (yes like the song) hostel which is nice enough - although the 'young man' bit is a slightly misleading as I'd say the average age of the men we've seen in there is about 60! Have gotten a good impression of New Zealand so far, as expected it's a lot like England - I was impressed that the supermarket has self-checkout tills like Tescos.
We'll post again either during or after our tour when we're sure to have lots of exciting events to report and pictures.
