Day 35 - Wed March 10th

Today was the day we were travelling from the North Island to the South island, so we turned up early at the ferry terminal, collected our boarding cards, which were different coloured bits of plastic and then headed into town to have a walk round the parliament building which looks like a bee hive. We were also on the hunt for a café with free wi-fi as internet prices have increased significantly from further north. In the Bay of islands we paid $10 for 24 hours and now we are being charged $8 for an hour - its crazy. The ferry we got on is predominantly a freight carrier which lets a few passenger vehicles on, so the passenger area on the boat was quite small, but they did show a couple of films which helped while away the 3hrs 40mins. We then followed some excellent directions and arrived at our friend’s house in Renwick near Blenheim. We had not seen each other for over a year, so caught up over some wine and met the entire family including Milly the dog who looks like a sheep! It was great to see everyone and it was very nice to have someone else cook for us and we had some tradition Pavlova - yum.

Sorry not many pictures taken - too much chatting and wine!
