Thursday 29/1/15 Wellington to Pohara. Ferry to South Island today. Really pleased that it was a calm sail and lovely views as we came towards Picton through narrow inlets. We then decided, perhaps foolishly, that the scenic route to Nelson looked like a shortcut!!Anyway it was scenic. We arrived in Pohara at 7.50pm, checked into our Beachfront Motel (we can see the sea) and went for a walk along another almost deserted beach and sat out looking at the stars for a while. Phone apps are great for telling you what you're looking at in the sky!
