Going Global

I left Chicago heading west in the beginning of April '07 and continued going west until March 1st, 2008 when I returned to Chicago having confirmed that the world is indeed round. The stops along the way - Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Nepal, India, and Tanzania. Don't Touch

Oddly enough...this one little pool was not fenced off. Should have been...Anna burnt her finger when she touched it to see how hot it was.

Top of Boulder Hill

A short hike that was supposedly near the site for Helms Deep from LOTR. Never saw anything like it the movie scene...but apparently it was done in a nearby quarry and they left no traces in any of their film locations.

One Tree Hill

For some strange reason, there were hundreds of hills that just had one tree randomly located on them.

Longest Place Name in the World

And I've been there. I feel complete. I guess the Maoris are like the Germans and just like to smash words together to make longer words.

You might notice that my arms aren't all the way up...this was as far as I could convince myself to raise them before my fear of tumbling down the mountain took over.

These are Esther's LED swingy-thingies. I'm sure there's a name for them...but I don't know. Nor do I know how to use them...but it was fun trying.

A humorous last night in Wellington with the Germans on the beach.

Maori Stage at Te Papa

Te Papa is the museum in Wellington. Lots of stuff about the Maori (native NZ culture). This is a stage for performances and I just thought it looked cool.

Anna's First Wave

No photos of me surfing...so just imagine this person being taller, male, and having a semi-beard. This was Anna's firs time surfing and she did rather well...perhaps helped by the fact that all her hobbies involve boards (snowboarding, wind-surfing, wakeboarding, etc).

You'll have to send this into Mazda - I'm sure they'd love to know how functional their cars are! I don't think I'll try cooking on the floor of mine, but it's good to know I could if I had to. Another amazing adventure, for sure. So Anna thought sleeping with you in her car was a good thing?? I'm not sure who's the bigger 'adventurer' :-) Take care and stay safe.
