Stayed at Extreme Backpackers (the nearest to the volcanoes) and set off at 7.00am for the 40min drive to the foot of the crossing. En route, formed a group with other people from our hostel (namely Campbell, Bridget, Iris, Spen and Debs) - it was mainly heavy, drenching rain and cold spots for most of the walk!.

With stops for photos and 30min lunch took us around 6 hours.

The weather was not on our side, as although the winds were not too bad, the clouds and rain inhibited the view, although the Emerald Lakes were still a sight to behold, after our struggle to the top!
