Rotorua is a great place to visit if one wants to experience the geothermal activity - something one does not often get to do. Bubbling mud pools and spectacular geysers are proof of Rotorua’s volcanic background. This thermal activity makes itself known in every corner of the city, and is the reason for the area’s famed sulphur scent. Clouds of steam drift from Kuirau Park, home to boiling mud pools, crater lakes and sulphur vents. The main thermal areas are Whakarewarewa, Waimangu Valley, Wai-o-Tapu and Hell’s Gate. Fumaroles, geysers and silica terraces displaying amazing colours can also be found within minutes of the city centre. I have visited Hell's Gate & on this trip visited Wai-o-Tapu.
It is a photographers paradise - the amazing colours are worth capturing and make postcard perfect pictures.
My travel companion on this trip was my husband and some of the pics are from his Nikon D80 camera.

What I love about travelling - The sights, smells, sounds, cuisine and people of different places. The feel... full info
