Six hours driving across the north island started our Boxing Day adventure. We arrived in Rotorua with enough time to take a gondola ride to the top of a mountain overlooking the lake and have some fun riding carts down the luge tracks. Rotorua is nestled on some serious geothermic water features and the sulphur smell follows you everywhere around town. The next morning we headed off to go Zorbing, but were severely underwhelmed by the setup so we decided to pass on that and go white water rafting instead. We had a great rafting trip that was highlighted with a plummet down a 28 foot waterfall nestled within the Grade 5 rapids.
