hey guys, back in the big smoke now, well not really but we've got electricty now! Been out on the east cape for the last few days and it was lovely. drove up from Gisbourne stopping on the way at the southern hemispheres longest concrete wharf....and what a wharf it was, my favourite ever! Stunning beaches and super hot weather. Driving on from there we found a campsite at the top of the easdt cape, more of a field with cows and one water tap but it was right by the sea and the two bottles of wine we'd bought on the way soon became the entertainment for the night. Marc got to play his guitar and we made up silly songs about the adventures we we've had, sure the other campers loved it! Despite the alcohol consumed we still managed to drag ourselvbes of of bed at 5 oclock in the morning to drive and then walk/wheeze our way to the top of the mountainous hill to the most easterly lighthouse to watch the sun rise, and lovely it was, maybe some of the lucky ones of you will get to see the many photos that were taken.....the perils of

having a digital camera and a memory card that stores many many photos!
From there we headed back in a westerly direction, passing by the lasrges pohutakara tree in new zealand, despite wildly varing age estimates its safe to say it was here even before Cook arrived to claim new zealand for himself, and thats pretty old for a tree. Another night out in the sticks and another bottle of wine before getting back on the open road, where in search of a good dinner (as always)we managed to stuble across an international volleyball competition and spent a very enjoable few hours watching the 'atleticism and sporting skills' of male and female volleyballers. Felt very unfit from the sidelines!
So back in rotarua for the second time, planning some fun for the next few days if we can move after an all you can eat roast dinner. who knows what they will hold! over and out, clarie xxx

Claire and Marc, following your reports with interest, hope you can put up some photos of the Gisborne Rotorua section. We were in NZ in November visiting our son in Wellington, visited Napier, Gisborne, Rotorua, and on up to Cape Reinga via ninety mile beach, Russel and Mangonui. Go to Mangonui fish shop to eat, it`s great! Pat.
