We stayed in Thames to give us time to visit the Hot Water beaches we'd read so much about and to do a bit of walking and swimming. We walked to a pleasant swimming hole where daring young Kiwi's jump from a small rock and had a short swim, nice. The next day we drove to the Hot Water beach to dig a hole. We scoped out previously dug holes and even tried digging a small test hole. Just as well we didn't fork out for a spade as it seemed someone else had used all the hot water. Or maybe we arrived too late to enjoy sitting in a hot hole of water waiting for the tide to come in. So we had a paddle and went back to our strange accommodation in Thames to be lulled to sleep by the tuneless Karaoke from the pub below our room, fond memories.
