The waterfront in front of our Boathouse
We spent our last few days in New Zealand in a very small town called Russell in the beautiful Bay of Islands. Found a waterfront place to rent aptly named The Boathouse, complete peace and quiet, the only sounds from the boats moored on the jetty. Reminded us both of the pine walk in Puerto Pollensa, so brought back lots of happy memories. Stuart loved it so much he didn't want to leave. This was a great place to relax for a while and the girls to get a good chunk of schoolwork done. Had a great trip out one morning starting on a boat, then all onto kayaks to continue upstream in an estuary, through some mangroves eventually arriving at a waterfall which provided huge entertainment trying to kayak underneath it and seeing who could survive the force of the water for the longest!

Our last day meant a long drive back to Auckland and dinner with some of Rebecca's family, before being brought back down to earth with a bump by a night in the ghastly Ibis Hotel at Auckland airport.

Can't believe how quickly our time in NZ has gone. Next on to Rarotonga in the
