Home for the next 30 days ?
First night in the campervan complete with both of us alive and well (Rich took control of the cooking and rustled us up a beef stirfry so the odds of food poisoning were extremely low) we drove up to the Northern most part of New Zealand, Cape Rienga. Having been there previously I knew that Cape Rienga was absolutely stunning with its picturesque scenery, beautiful walks, coastline and a view of the meeting point of the Tasman and Atlantic sea that's amazing... incidentally we saw none of this. The weather was absolutely horrific! You couldn't even see 10m in front of you the cloud was that low. At 230m above sea level it was genuinely like looking out of an airplane window mid flight, there was absolutely nothing to see but pure white. Plus the nonstop rain and gailforce winds only added to the feel. We made the most out of the journey anyway, laughing at the situation and forcing ourselves to walk to the lighthouse (the northern most tip) regardless. If we didn't gain anything from the trip at least we can say we've been there anyway. Although, I personally enjoyed the home made ham and cheese sandwiches we had

for lunch when we first arrived and the fact I got to wear my new red and white polka dot poncho... It's the simple things. Hopping back into the campervan we then had a 3 hour drive to Paihia where we're going to be setting up base for the next few days.
