Kuata
The scenery is great but thats about all. We're leaving Bounty Island today. We havent been able to get into any of our other "chosen" resorts of Otto and Fanny's, Octopus or Oarsmans Bay. They're all full.
Instead we head for Kuata Resort...the gateway to the Yasawa's. Its not really covered in the guide books but we have seen their own brochure.
We get the transfer boat to the YF and we are soon on our way. Travelling with us is is Hobarts answer to John Cleese (see pic and you'll see what I mean..) The cost is FJ$ 65 each (about 20 quid). We arrive bang on time (as usual) at 11am. It looks like a good choice.....but as Sarah know's appearances can be deceptive.
We are checked into Bure Nr 8. Its costing us FJ$ 130 a night for the Bure and the compulsary food plan. Its half the price of Bounty Island...and we soon see why. To say the accom is basic is an understatemnt. Compared with Bounty is primitive. The Bure has a thatched roof, glass slats for windows and a rickety wooden door which locks internally by a piece of wood and a nail. It resembles one of my gramps home-made
Kuata Bure
Kuata Bure sheds. There's a sink, mirror and "shower". The showers are gravity fed from the rainwater tank. Judging Sarah's reaction we may only be staying one night!
The meals are pretty basic too....but no choice. Like it or lump it. Veggie stir fry for lunch, added flies a bonus. Veggie curry for dinner. Portions are quite big...and it doesnt taste too bad. There's a bar, which is quite reasonable.
