After La Serena in Chile we hung around in Santiago in an awful hostel just killing time before our flight. Saw some interesting sights, but nothing too exciting. We had a v long flight to Auckland, then hung around in the airport for about 12 hours. Our time was not wasted though, as we had our first fried breakfast in 5 months. It tasted very good, by airport food standards.
A 2 hour flight later and we were in Fiji. The town you arrive in, Nadi, is pretty nasty, and the beaches we not great, but we spent 2 nights there getting over the journey and the jet lag. I insisted on waking at 4am for days, God knows why. We took a boat to Mana island, which was the typical paradise island you expect. The snorkelling was incredible- there was a reef just off the beach to we didnt have to get a boat trip or anything. It was just there waiting for us. Good job really, as I had a cold the whole time so diving was off the agenda.
We stayed here for 3 nights, and enjoyed some Fijian entertainment and Cava drinking. If only it was Cava

How relaxing
like we know at home...it actually tasted like muddy water that made your face tingle. Trev liked it.
Then we stayed on the Coral Coast on the mainland for a week, which was a very luxurious resort where Celebrity Love island was filmed. There were hannocks all over the place, a good pool, the works. So we spent that week doing very little. Oh, we made some jewellery out of coconut shells (ooops, gave away everybodys xmas prezzies there) and Trev did a jungle hike to a waterfall. No more jungle walks for me, so I stayed on my deck chair, and I still have the tan to prove it.
After a very lazy couple of weeks we were heading back to Auckland........
