Christmas Day
On the beach.. A very Merry Christmas to everyone!!! Hope you had a lovely day?
I have to admit it was the strangest thing celebrating Christmas away from my lovely family and away from freezing cold temperatures! I don't think I would ever get used to it! Funny how you moan about the cold but when you don't have it at Christmas it's like its not really Christmas at all!!!! ( Brian does not agree with this in the slightest!! :o) )
Fortunately we had a great day though. I wasn't as blue or homesick as I thought, worse so I think on the lead up to Christmas, oh and at Christmas mass.
The Priest prayed for all those away from their family's on this special day...and opened up the flood gates! The tears where streaming down my face and I had no way of stopping them...I looked like a lunatic..or more accurately, my mum, who enjoys a good cry at Christmas mass! lol
This situation was not helped by the fact the music was completely somber even Mary's Boy Child Jesus Christ, which is a Jamican upbeat wee number was sadder than depression!
I managed to pull myself together and
then the piantist decided to play an Intstrumental version of Silent Night as we made a special blessing for all little children!!!! Here openeth the flood gates again....GRACIE AND RUTH!!!! I missed my wee nieces so much on Christmas day, and my wee sister Deirdre, even though she is now 17 she is stil the baby and we get a big kick from seeing her open her pressies...and she got an I.pod too so it would've been a screaming match of joy!
I think I am used to a bit more mayhem, excitement and lots more kids around, whereas here it was a tad more reserved. To top of my disappoinment in the Christmas Mass...my one major joy and reason for loving Christmas mass is: Oh Holy Night!"!!!! It is brilliant and you feel so fantastically christmasssy when you here it! But not a hope in this service! My sister Sineann was saying, it was sang at there mas at home and they were all loving it! GUTTED!!!! LOL
Ok so that was the morning...I was slightly low and lonely. But then Brian took me to the BEACH! lol It's amazing how quickly playing in the Indian Ocean
Us Two
Merry Christmas Everybody can turn your mood around! We had so much fun and I would have loved to spend the whole day there. Looking around you could here all the different accents.
All celebrating away from their natural environment. Lots of Irish, English, Scots and South African's, I rarely heard an Aussie accent!
On the way to the beach the coast road was just lined thick with cars, every car park full...it was fantastic! Christmas Day on the Beach with cold beers in their Eskies and a BBQ ready to go!
We were soaking in the atmosphere, whilst tanning ourselves, and jumping in and out of the Ocean to cool down!
Back at Brisey's, Derek and his Wife Victoria, their wee baby Niamh and Victoria's mum and dad were all here for dinner! It turned out to be a great day with lots of fun, pool time and BBQ, lovely gifts and good laughs! Victoria's mum was really lovely to me, her and Brian's brother Derek just really empathised and made me feel like they knew how I might be feeling and were always making me feel better about being away from home!!! Happy days!!! Thats all I really needed!
Brian
Sheila's
Mary, Lou, Vic & May of course was amazing too, he had Christmas last year without his family around! But he was happier than happy to be in Oz this year in the heat and with his folks! I got plenty of big giant hugs to compensate! He missed Ruthie and Grace, my sisters and Dave too though. But rather than wishing he was there he was wishing they were here!
We're heading off on the 27th to Brisbane, for NYE on Magnetic Island! It'll be a total party on the beach!!! Some French DJ is playing! I can't wait. Brian's cousin's are all younger so we'll be going from hanging with the oldies to hanging finlly with people our own ages! Even though we'll be the oldies now!
It'll be great to be clubbing again!
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas! Have a very Happy New Year! We'll blog again soon.
Love Louise and Brian
ps. May got me a diary for Christmas! How happy was I!!!?!!! My Favourite!
