Adelaide I clearly remember that I wasn't very fond of Adelaide. I stayed only a very short time there and I saw very little. The only thing I saw in Adelaide that I'll mention here is South Australian Museum. There were two really cool exhi... Read Full Entry

In Litchfield national park they have so called magnetic termite mounds. These termite mounds are flat and always oriented in north-south direction.

A hollow boab tree that according to legend has been used to imprison people. But likely, it is just a legend.

Some of these galleries were updated with new paintings at least as late as in the mid 20th century

Some of the rock paintings in Kakadu NP can be as old as 20,000 years

There are galleries with rock paintings that are in such remote areas of the park that they haven't been studied yet. They have been seen from planes and helicopters but are too difficult to access to make it worth going there

When I was in Kakadu NP it was in the end of the rainy season. The rains caused parts of Kakadu National Park to be flooded.

Lucky!
You were lucky to have so much time to spend in Australia since it is such an incredibly vast country with so much to see. That's an interesting story about the horse Norseman finding gold. I also like your photos of the Aboriginal rock art.

Australia
Ah, beautiful Australia! I know the film Crocodile Dundee well, it is one of my childhood favourites. I would certainly have it in mind if I visited Australia in the future! Thank you for a good read, reminiscing the good old days of travelling - getting a free shared-ride to Darwin, and hitching a ride in a hot-air balloon ? Thank you for another good read, Ake ?

More on Crocodile Dundee
I had another visit at a Crocodile Dundee related site later in the trip. It is featured in the third blog entry I wrote. I guess you will read that too in a while. /Ake

Is this a tasteless joke?

Tasteless Joke?
Not at all. It's actually a very Australian sense of humour, and from what popular culture remembers of him - it's absolutely suited to him too :)

Good to hear
