Lookout over King George Sound
Decided to set up at Cosy Corner West. The Camps 4 book says you can camp there, but there is a no camping sign, but we think it referred to the November to April season - very confusing. It was on the foreshore behind the grass and trees. Fairly sheltered, but on the beach the waves were crashing and thumping all day and night. Walked up the steps to see the view over King George Sound, very nice. The kids played on the sand and rocks, running across before and after the waves.

Drove into Albany and went to The Gap and Natural Bridge. They had platforms up as viewing areas. At The Gap, there were waves coming in and crashing up 30m, but thankfully not as bad as yesterday where the car park had water running down the slope. On to Whaleworld an old whaling station which closed down in the 1970’s. The kids were fascinated, but disappointed because there was no power to be able to see the different movies. Had lunch in the park, fuelled up and visited McDonald’s for an ice cream before heading out. Stopped at Fitzgerald River Rest Area, only 4 other cars and not too much traffic passing through the night.

Left early the next morning and the kids had breakfast in the car. Stopped down the road for a leg stretch, teeth clean and toilet stop, there were swings as well, so the kids got rid of some wriggles. Continued into Esperance and stopped at Pink Lake (not very pink today). Rod stayed in the car, so he didn’t get mud on his shoes like Alex and I. Poor Kate kept walking and had to wash her bare mud coated feet. She didn’t really mind.

Looked at all the beaches on the way in. A little rough with the wind, but beautiful and blue/green with white sand, some had rocks instead of sand. Had a swim at Twilight Beach - invigorating! Had a quick shower to rinse the salt off and into town. Got our mail at the post office and got some groceries. Fuelled up and into the bakery for lunch. Boy did they have a selection. That many different pies, slices, cakes etc., made it very hard to choose. To the Visitors Centre and checked out the weather. Wind was forecast for the next 3 days, so we

decided to skip Cape Le Grande and drive to Kalgoorlie. Stopped at Helms Arbortieum; a picnic area, but no one else there. Had early tea and was up by 5am and gone by 6am.
