On day 21 I visited Cape Schanck Lighthouse. There was a short but lovely loop trail there that took you to a numb er of observation points. The trail also brought you to Pebble Beach (aptly named) where I walked along the beach for a while. Next on my agenda was the Bushrangers Track - a tough hike of km in total. Up and down, with plenty of steep portions. I beachcombed in Bushrangers Bay for a while then started the trip back. Most of my walks to date have been shorter as I felt this one after it was done. After a rest, I decided to take a drive and visit a few of the major beaches in the area. These included Gunnamatta Beach and St Andrews Beach. The former is a popular surf beach and when I was there you could also see some wind surfing going on. The next beach was unique in that it had long strips of volcanic rock separating parts of the beach from the surf. Day 22 saw me leaving the Mornington Peninsula for Phillip Island. Before leaving I had one more stop - Flinders. There, I visited the Blowhole, which had some beach
access, followed by West Head which provided a lookout to Flinders Beach. Thanks to Google maps I made it to Phillip Island unscathed. After a brief stop at the information centre, I visited a few beaches, then travelled to Forrest Caves. There, you can walk about 300 M along the beach and see some caves. Since it was not quite low tide, and I was not prepared to get wet, I did not see them fully. Perhaps I will revisit, time permitting. After dinner I felt like a quick drive and went to see Pyramid Rock. A boardwalk takes you to a viewpoint where you can look at this unique rock. Tomorrow I will explore more fully Phillip Island.
