Edit Blog Post
This time last week we were preparing ourselves for the flight home. As I sit here in the kitchen drinking a long black (no more buckets of Americanos), contemplating whether we should turn the heater on (!!!!), or just suck it up and wear a jumper, I realise the enormity of the task ahead. I am going to return to the beginning of our blogs, fix them up and then add some photos so we can publish them to remind us of our wonderful adventure.
So, I'll be revisiting our travels and putting them through the editing process. To those people who need a fix of the andrewfamily life on a regular basis (Obie, that's you!), I'll make sure we blog our experience over the Labour Day long weekend. Until then, I'll leave these thoughts to keep you going:
Going back to work after six months on leave was, as people expected, annoying. But, in the first meeting of the year we were likened to hamsters on a wheel, so nothing has changed really. I haven't been told to "**** Off" yet, but the naughtiest kid in the school didn't attend this week, so I'm hopeful that situation can be rectified on Monday. Have quite a few 'J' names in some classes so am thinking of creating a blog called the 'J Files' just so I can entertain Jane C and Yolanta. Obviously, it wouldn't be appropriate, but how much fun would it be?
A few weeks later...
So I spent a little time reviewing the blogs - adding and deleting where necessary. I know they are not a great source of information for anybody planning a four month sojourn with their family in South East Asia (there are far more helpful blogs out there - thanks Wandering Kahns and Jetsetters!) but they do provide a snapshot of our life on the road. We are also not very well known for our photographic skills (and often we forget to even take a camera with us!), so I apologise for so many accompanying pictures where we are standing awkwardly in front of a tourist attraction. Those pictures were mainly for family and friends to show we were still alive and having fun.
Are we planning our next holiday? Yes and no. Labour Day is coming up, so we'll spend it in Gippsland as usual with a great group of friends. Easter follows soon after and Dean will not hear of going anywhere other than Barooga. The winter holiday will hopefully be spent in Buninyong again and then it's September holidays before you know it. This is the time where we usually go somewhere out of state and with Dean not coaching, the world is our oyster! Borneo is at the top of our list, however, so hopefully we can find some cheap flights.
Some more weeks later...
Well, I've been waiting for Dean to add some wise and witty words but I can't wait any longer. I've sent the blog off to be published without a lovely summary to wrap it all up. I'll have to add an addendum, I guess. It has actually been quite difficult to find time to sit and think about what we did. We have been really busy since returning; catching up with friends and family EVERY weekend, Eleanor is straight back into netball/ballet/piano whirlwind; and to top it all off, work interfering with life!
We are always asked the same question, "How was it?". I hate giving a simple reply because how do you sum up over four months of travelling in a way that you don't bore or antagonise the person asking the question?

Wandering Kahns
Where in the world are the Kahns?
Welcome home!
We hope the adjustment wasn't too rough... We're still working on recovering from the jet lag / hypothermia / culture shock of our return home. You've come up in conversations quite often when people ask us about our travels and whether we met anyone interesting along the way. It was such fun to meet kindred spirits... The Australian us. We send you our best wishes for a smooth transition back into your normal life routines and look forward to crossing paths somewhere on the globe before long!
