Hi everyone! We made it here safe and sound. We nearly missed our flight in LAX (we had an hour layover, and the plane from SFO ended up being delayed by an hour, gotta love SFO). We ended up looking at the map of LAX during the landing and then rushing off the plane and running as fast as we could through 2 terminals, then to add to our stress as we got to the gate for the Sydney flight erinn couldn't find her passport, finally she does (dumping her entire purse out) and they said she didn't have the correct visa. The staff was so helpful and just told us to get on the plane and in the end it all turned out fine.

We arrived in Melbourne around 1 o'clock and waited for the shuttle to our hostel, right away people were asking us if we needed any help and if we knew where we were going, the aussies definitaly live up to their reputation of being super friendly.

As we arrived at the hostel Caroline and Nicole were waiting in the reception for us, and it has turned out to be a really nice hostel. There is a good bar with cheap drinks (by australian standards) and a nice kitchen, so we have alreay been to the grocery store for food instead of spending even more money to go out to eat.

We had some drinks on Saturday night but erinn and I were ready for bed by midnight. I ended up waking at 4:30 am without any hope of sleeping. Erinn was up a little later so we went for a really really long walk down the beach, it was beautiful and the perfect way to start the day. Later on we went down the coast about 90 minutes on the Great Ocean Drive, to a beautiful beach. This was the idea of our friend Calvin (a local who lived in San Diego last year). The beach there was amazing, we finished with dinner in a cute little surf town. When we got back to the hostel we met our friend Ivan, another guy from San Diego who is now on a working holiday here for a year. Over a drink he told us all about how amazing working here is, and all the ways that we could change our visa to stay for a year.....hnmmmmmm. Not to worry anyone but that seems to be the consensus among most people in the hostel who are on working visas, there is lots of work and decent money to be made, ill keep everyone updated on that 😉

Well our 3rd day has just begun, were going to try and catch some of the super bowl. Later this afternoon were headed to Philips Island to see the penguins and other wildlife. Can't Wait.

Hope everyone is doing well at home! Even though im having a great time already i do miss everyone.

P.S. sorry for the errors in this, there is no spell check and im in a hurry because the internet is kind of expensive here.
