We had Iain and Sarah (the guys we stayed with in Brisbane) fly down and stay, so we took them down to Phillip Island to show them around. We started with a tour of the main town, Cowes where we stopped by a local bakery and bought some pies and cakes and took them down to the beach to eat. We then headed off to see the penguins at the Nobbies. Luckily enough we spotted a couple under the boardwalk in pretty much the same place as we did on Jo and I's first visit. I think Iain and Sarah were very impressed with my tracking skills ; )

Iain being a bike nut whined and whinged until we gave in and headed for Phillip Island Race circuit, home to the Australian World Superbikes and Moto GP legs. We had a look around the merchandise shop before finding out that today was the opening day for a new karting track. Well we didn't need asking twice!! We all had a go. The track was an exact replica of the main one, albeit only 700 metres long, but still it was the best karting track I've been on. Everything was brand spanking new so no sweaty helmets, which was nice!! Jo came last....she manged to make up a good excuse though 'apparently' she put her seat too far back and couldn't reach the pedel properly, well not enough to go faster than Morgan Freeman in the film Driving Miss Daisy!

After a night of Chinese and a fair amount of alcohol we took our time the next morning heading up to Melbourne where we stayed the night in St. Kilda. This place really reminded us of Hermosa in LA. The suburb is right on the beach and full of cool bars and restaurants. We had a good day looking around, having a walk along the beach to the pier followed by a big night out on the beers. Finished off in true Pommie style with a $12 Kebab : P

The next day we walked and we walked, then we caught a tram and then walked some more, then a little more!! We did a lot of walking anyway!! We first walked the entire length of St. Kilda market, lots of cool artists showing their work and other arts and craft stuff. Then after hopping on a tram to the city we walked around a similar market on the south Bank, popped into the Crown Casino for a look around then walked over the immigration bridge (displays info on all the nationalities that are now citizens of Australia), some strategic spit stains on the info board for the United States and Iran!!

To cap off our day of walking we went for a coffee at Pelegrini's, I think thats the right spelling, which is the oldest coffee shop in Melbourne and owned by the same owner since the 60's or may be it was 70s, I've forgotten. Anyhow it was one of Iain's favourite spots when he was staying in Melbourne a few years back. And yes, it served up a wicked cuppa, and the water melon drink thing was pretty special too.

With everyone well and truely knackered we headed off to the airport to drop Iain and Sarah off. It had been a lovely weekend, good to catch up and see them again. We'll miss them both and I in particular look forward to racing Iain again on the karts sometime in the not too distant future, hopefully after he's got some practice in and will be able to make it a little more competitive!! ; )
