9/3 We checked out and got the bus to Noosa which got us there for 1 o'clock. Kennedy had to stay in a different hostel for our first night in Noosa so once we'd both checked in we met up again at the beach. We spent the afternoon at the beach and then had a look around the town which I really liked. Out of all the places I've been to on the East Coast so far Noosa is definitely the only place I've thought I would like to live. My hostel provided free pizza for dinner which made me very happy!
10/3 Kennedy moved over to my hostel this morning and then we did the coastal walk from Noosa beach to Sunshine beach. It took just over two hours and it was such a pretty walk, we even saw a turtle in the sea. By the time we got to the beach we were so hot and tired I just wanted to get in the sea and then lie down for an hour. As nice as the walk was there was no way we wanted to walk all the way back as well so we got the
bus back to the hostel. We cooked dinner together and then just has a chilled evening at the hostel.
11/3 We got up pretty late this morning and then tried to find something to do. We spoke to the guy at the travel desk but most of the trips you can do in Noosa leave early so we were a bit stuck with what to do. We decided to use today to do all the things that needed doing like sending postcards, writing my blog, go food shopping etc. Last night in the hostel they were serving schnitzel and chips with gravy and it smelt so good that Kennedy and I decided to treat ourselves to it this evening because it was only $6; it was definitely worth that it was so nice! There was a live band playing in the bar so we decided to actually make a bit of an effort this evening by putting on some makeup and nice clothes (something that doesn't happen very often here) so we could go to the bar for a few drinks.
12/3 We got up early this morning so we could go kayaking at the Everglades. Once we
got to the Everglades we were given a kayak, a map and a box to put our food in and told to be back by 4 o'clock. The fact that we were going out into a lake and then the river just the two of us was so cool but also a little scary because neither of us had kayaked properly before. We set off about 9 o'clock and it took over an hour to get across the lake because it was quite choppy. When we got to the river it was completely calm which was so much easier and it gave us chance to actually stop to take photos or rest our arms for five minutes. After about two hours we started to wonder where we were because on the map there was a t-junction but we hadn't come to one yet which seemed wrong. We eventually decided that we were lost when we had to manoeuvre around several branches across the river because we remembered the lady telling us that we shouldn't go down that river because of the trees. By now it was lunch time and there's was no way we were going to make it to
the hut that we were aiming for so we decided to get out onto the bank to have our lunch. This was a very bad idea. First of all we struggled to get to the bank because we ended up with a bush in our faces and Kennedy freaked out because there was a big spider in there; then when I tried to get out the mud was really soft so I started to sink in it and almost lost my shoe; when we were both finally on the bank we were being attacked by hundreds of mosquitoes so we quickly decided to get back in the kayak and eat lunch in there. That was definitely 10 minutes of pandemonium! We started going back the other way and eventually came to the point where we turned left instead of right- I can't believe we completely missed the turning, we're so stupid. Going back across the lake was even harder because we were going against the waves and we were getting tired. We were singing to keep ourselves motivated and by 3 o'clock we were back on dry land completely soaked, covered in mud, bites and sunburn and absolutely exhausted! It
was such a fun day though.
