I hooked this Barra at a Barra farm, yesterday. It was really tough!
Well today was a mix of good and not so good. The good included 'Tyson's birthday'! And we had a fabulous facetime call with him this afternoon when he opened his special present from nana and pa. Made me feel a little bit sad again after the phone call. Its hard to be away from the family... But our trip goes on and its important to enjoy all aspects of it.

We left beautiful Port Douglas a little bit sadly as we'd hoped to stay at least another day to have a bucket of prawns for Waza and have a last swim in the Pacific ocean. We are heading west from here on. But our door was in need of repair so it was synched up with 'Robby's Running repair' and off we went. But after a valiant attempt by the best locksmith in Cairns we declared the repair wasn't possible. So we have to put in a temporary 'jury rig' made of occy straps and a bike lock. Its not terribly convenient but it works and its all we can do for now. We were given a number for Kea spare parts but no body rang us back today.

Robby's running repairs!
(Queensland time...) If we can get hold of one we can have it shipped to Darwin and have it installed when we get there. So we are still hoping.

Oh I forgot, poor Ozzie (the teddy that Tyson and Emilia gave us to take) took a dive out of the window on the very busy Captain Cook highway! I took my life into my hands and raced over the road to rescue him! Crazy, but I couldn't leave him, it felt dreadful! He wasn't harmed at all! Just had a cheeky grin on his face and Bago Beau woofed in disapproval.

While waiting in Cairns we had a paddle in the beautiful swimming pooland had a fantastic breakfast at Villa Romana. They hand feed a willy wagtail every morning with scrambled eggs! Then we had a $10 massage! Only 15 mins but sorted the neck and shoulders very well! Then we headed off to 'The Savannah Way'. It starts just out side of Cairns and the sign says 'Cairns to Broome'! Sounds like a great adventure! It was a very big climb right from the start! Windy and hilly! The Bago was doing it hard but okay. Had

to close my eyes a few times... (Big sook I know!) At some stage we saw the cable cars going up the mountain and realised we were near the famous Skytrain. After the day we'd had we thought we should stop and have a go. It was brilliant! You are so far above ground it's like being in a plane. The view of the Barron river and Barron falls is magnificent! Its a bit scary but fantastic at the same time. Worth while!

We had just 'landed' when Tyson Face timed us for his birthday so that was good. We managed to show him the cable cars, a great opportunity.

So we have arrived at Mareeba and have settled into the local Rodeo ground for a cheap powered stop over. Nothing flash but does the job. We will head off early tomorrow so we can make good time. I think Rob will probably want to drive fairly constantly until we get nearer to Darwin. But if there are things that show up on the way, we will stop to enjoy the moment I'm sure.

Chillagoe
If you are going to Chillagoe, well worth the stop to look at the caves. We did the 3 cave pack and loved it. Not sure how much it was but even if you get to do one it would be worth it. Temperatures are about to rise. We saw a Dad cassowary on the Cape Trib walkway with a young one. Very hard to spot the baby. Was there for about 10 minutes and we were like statues. Safe driving and it you take any photos of termite hills, remember to stand next to them for size comparison....Hugs....Karen
